Lokma Recipe



  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt


  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1.5 cups water
  • Squeeze of lemon juice



  1. Put all ingredients into large bowl and use electric beaters to mix.
  2. Let it sit to rise for about an hour.
  3. Prepare a deep pot full of oil ready for deep frying. Bring the oil up to boiling heat. Have a small cup of oil ready and using a small teaspoon with a long handle, first dip it in the oil then scoop a teaspoon of the dough and drop it into the oil. Keep going until the oil is full of little dough balls floating on top. Stir and cook till golden brown. Remove from oil and put straight into syrup. Let them soak for a few minutes then remove. Repeat till its all done.


  1. Put all ingredients into pot and bring to boil. Let simmer for 10mins. Turn off. Let cool.
