Home-Made Sausage Rolls (Individual Recipe)


  • 2 tbsp pork mince
  • 2 tbsp beef mince
  • 2 tbsp sausage mince
  • 1 flat tsp onion powder
  • 1/8 onion, chopping finely
  • 1/8  carrot, grated
  • 1/8 zucchini, grated
  • 1/8 potato, grated
  • ½  clove garlic, crushed
  • ½ teaspoon tomato sauce
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ puff pastry sheet
 Egg Wash for brushing pastry
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 egg
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds


  • Grater
  • Knive
  • Strainer
  • Peeler
  • Oven tray
  • Baking Paper
  • Spoon - large
  • Small and large bowls
  • Measuring spoon
  • Measuring cup
  • Egg whisk
  • Pastry brushe


  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
  2. Grate carrot, potato and zucchini remove any excess liquid through a strainer. Do this until dry.
  3. Place the drained carrot, potato and zucchini into a bowl.
  4. Chop onion and crush and chop the half garlic clove as small as you can, add to bowl.
  5. Measure and add onion powder to bowl.
  6. Measure out the sausage, pork and beef mince and add to the bowl also.
  7. Measure the tomato sauce and worcestershire sauce and add to the bowl.
  8. Mix all ingredients together by hand until well combined. Set aside.
  9. Get puff pastry sheets out of freezer. You may need to work fast, especially if it is a hot day.
  10. Cut each sheet of defrosted puff pastry in half. 
  11. Add milk to a whisked egg and mix together.
  12. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the egg mixture down one long side of their pastry half. About 2 cm wide.
  13. Put sausage mixture in a long thin line down the middle of the pastry (not on top of the egg wash).
  14. Flip the side without the egg wash over the sausage mixture. Flip the side with the egg wash over the other pastry to join. Press down lightly.
  15. Turn the sausage roll over to make sure the joined pastry seam is facing down.
  16. Brush lightly on top with the egg mixture.
  17. Sprinkle the top with sesame seeds.
  18. Place the sausage rolls onto lined baking trays.
  19. Cook in the oven for 35-40 minutes or until the pastry is golden and puffed and the mixture is cooked through.
